In Memory of Rick

In memory of John R. Warren

In memory of John R. Warren, Annapolis attorney of 50 years.
Known and loved by many. You are missed.

August 12th, 1944 – April 5th, 2022

Rick felt a deep love and appreciation for the world around him – from the ocean to the stars. He lived fully, with passion for all that he did, fiercely loving and tirelessly supporting those around him. He was a presence, a force, a bright light – and a true friend.

Rick’s deep love of the land and ocean brought him many years of fishing, sailboat racing and hunting. In his spare time, if he wasn’t tending his garden, he was likely out on the Chesapeake Bay. Countless memories with his family and close friends were made on the water and in the woods.

Rick was born in Annapolis and raised in Riviera Beach, Pasadena, Maryland. He served honorably in the Air Force and graduated from the University of Maryland. After earning his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law, he began his 47-year law career – practicing in and around the Annapolis area.

Rick represented all with a true client-centered approach. He always endeavored to understand his clients on a human level – and represent them as such. With a passion for pro bono work, he frequently and selflessly gave back to the community that supported him. Many individuals in the community remain grateful for Rick’s support, guidance and positive outcomes. He truly changed many lives.

Rick moved through all of his years with an astounding strength; a strength that he carried ten fold in the last months of his life. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Warren, daughter Alexis Arizzi, neé Warren, brother Bruce Warren, step-son William Gallagher, grandchildren Ernest Arizzi, Avery Arizzi, Isabella Arizzi, Addison Arizzi, Dylan Gallagher, Kingston Gallagher, and Sebastian Gallagher.

Rick passed peacefully at his home with his family present.

Services were private.

A quote from Rick about his 50-year approach to his practice:
“My approach to the practice of law is based on practicality, trying to reach acceptable solutions to often very difficult and complex problems. Saving time and money for clients is an everyday consideration that best serves their interests as it reduces fees/costs and the emotional effort required to litigate cases.
While my office has extensive experience in the court procedures and protocols necessary to advance litigation, there are often ways to attempt settlement through various means prior to extensive litigation. However, if litigation becomes necessary, we are well-staffed and prepared to move forward to aggressively pursue a client’s interest.”
